Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz, the Cyberpunk 2077 Quest Director, recently celebrated his ten-year anniversary working for CD Projekt Red. It’s certainly normal for a company to celebrate an anniversary like that, especially for one of their senior employess. However, Tomaszkiewicz’s coworkers certainly outdid themselves, gifting him with a replica of V’s Samurai jacket.
CD Projekt Red Celebrates Quest Director’s Ten Year Anniversary
Tomaszkiewicz posted photographs of the jacket, as well as an accompanying case marked for his ten-year anniversary on Twitter. The jacket is clearly a recreation of that worn by the Cyberpunk 2077 protagonist which appears in both the story trailer and gameplay demo. Indeed, while there are likely to be other clothing options in-game, the Samurai jacket has already become an iconic part of V’s ensemble thanks to its appearance in the game’s promotional material. Clearly, CD Projekt Red values Tomaszkiewicz’s contributions to the company a great deal! The studio’s stunning gift is certainly likely to leave plenty of fans envious!

In addition to his role as Quest Director for Cyberpunk 2077, Tomaszkiewicz also worked on both The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt; not surprising, given how long he’s been with the studio! He actually began as a Junior QA Specialist working on The Witcher 2 and The Witcher: Enhanced Edition. Ten years later, he is now leading quest production for the studio’s largest ever project! In addition, Tomaszkiewicz was also recently the Game Director for both Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales and Gwent: Homecoming.
The Samurai jacket in Cyberpunk 2077 is a key piece of clothing for V. According to CD Projekt Red, the Samurai logo is actually for a band known for their rebellious attitude and music. Although they are no more, they seem to have become synonymous with challenging the establishment and oppressive system of Night City. Thus, the jacket potentially gives fans a clue as to V’s motivations as a character and their attitude to the world around them.
