With the Cyberpunk 2077 release now due for mid-November, fans don’t have that much longer to wait. However, thanks to remaining relatively tight-lipped about the project over the last few years, CD Projekt Red still has a lot of gameplay details under wraps. One new tidbit of information is something known as the Cyberpunk 2077 Cyberpsychos; an extreme designation which players can attain in-game.
What Are the Cyberpunk 2077 Cyberpsychos?
CD Projekt Red’s Senior Level Designer, Miles Tost, recently revealed a few choice details about how the studio handled Night City’s open-world design. For instance, he confirmed that players would be able to explore almost the entire city at will after completing the game’s prologue. Indeed, another thing aspect that he spoke about was how much carnage players can potentially wreak. According to Tost, players may even accidentally kill quest-givers if they go on a rampage in Night City.

Similar to how police mechanics work in GTA, players who embark on a killing spree might eventually attract serious attention. However, the Cyberpunk 2077 system for this is quite a bit more complex. Tost explained that players who become a major target for the Night City police may earn themselves the designation “Cyberpsycho”. Cyberpsychos are essentially the city’s Most Wanted, and it may not be easy to get rid of the designation.
In fact, to make matters especially interesting, there are also NPC Cyberpsychos already in Night City; the designation isn’t purely for rampaging PCs. Encounters with these extreme criminals may even play a role in the Cyberpunk 2077 story. For now, of course, the details of how exactly this system will work in-game are hazy. However, as we near the November release date, CD Projekt Red are likely to start showing off more gameplay footage and mechanics to build up hype. (Not that they necessarily have to though, given the enormous hype that already exists for Cyberpunk 2077!)
