ZeniMax Online Studios has delivered Elder Scrolls fans a hefty dose of nostalgia with the announcement and cinematic trailer for Dark Heart of Skyrim; the next year-long season of DLC releases for The Elder Scrolls: Online. Yesterday, the studio unveiled a dramatic new trailer for Greymoor, the second of four DLC releases planned to arrive throughout 2020, with the first coming in March and Greymoor following in June.
Greymoor and The Year-Long Dark Heart of Skyrim Adventure
“Set upon a journey that will take you into Skyrim’s darkest reaches,” writes ZeniMax; “Stop a powerful Vampire Lord from enslaving Tamriel in the Dark Heart of Skyrim, a gothic tale of sinister secrets and deadly betrayals. The Elder Scrolls Online: Greymoor is the next stage in the epic story that begins with the Harrowstorm DLC and continues throughout the year.”
Following the format established by last year’s Season of the Dragon, the Dark Heart of Skyrim will span four separate DLC releases. The first, Harrowstorm, will launch in March of 2020, while Greymoor will arrive in June. Two further DLCs, which have yet to be revealed, will launch in August and November, respectively. The season offers a lot for Elder Scrolls fans to get nostalgic about; after all, it will focus heavily on the land of Skyrim. In fact, it even looks to be touching on similar content as The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim’s own Dawnguard DLC, the expansion which gave fans their first look at the region’s vampires all the way back in 2012.
The four expansions spanning the Dark Heart of Skyrim will give players the chance to explore more of Skyrim than ever before in Elder Scrolls: Online, including areas which should be familiar to fans of the classic RPG, like the clifftop city of Solitude and the cavernous depths of Blackreach. It will also feature a whole new faction of vampiric foes, led by one of the dread Vampire Lords which made its first appearance in Dawnguard. Perhaps Lord Harkon will even make an appearance… after all, he was extremely old, and it was said that he once ruled a great kingdom…
