Phoenix Labs’ monster-slaying MMO title Dauntless has officially entered the wilds of full launch on PC and consoles. As slayers new and old get their bearings, Phoenix Labs is already looking towards the future. An extensive (and interactive) roadmap details what will be coming to Dauntless in both the near and far future.
Dauntless Interactive Content Roadmap
Upcoming content roadmaps are far from a new phenomenon, but with Dauntless, Phoenix Labs is doing something a little different. The official Dauntless roadmap is an interactive experience where players can “explore” the game’s upcoming features.
Much like in Dauntless proper, the content roadmap has users visiting floating “islands,” each of which represents an upcoming feature. As of this writing, these islands are grouped into five major categories, and each category has multiple features contained within. The full roadmap is quite extensive, but here are just some of the features Dauntless players can look forward to:
- Major visual and gameplay reworks for the Shrike and Skraev behemoths. Both behemoths are getting a visual makeover, and the Skraev is having its combat style altered.
- A fourth elemental aether type called Terra. This new aether will help balance out the existing aethers (Frost, Shock, and Blaze). Several existing behemoths (and their associated gear) will be converted to Terra when the new aether arrives.
- New alternate weapon specials for all existing weapon types. Players will be able to unlock these new specials to differentiate their favorite weapons with new special attacks.
- Loadout presets which allow players to save multiple gear/cell loadouts. This will make hunting specific behemoths a much more streamlined process.
- A revamped Mastery system which gives players a consistent track of challenges to complete and reward to unlock.
Mobile And Switch Versions
In addition to all of the above, mobile and Nintendo Switch versions of Dauntless are still on the way. However, Phoenix Labs clarified through the roadmap that neither version is being actively worked on for the time being. The roadmap also says that both versions of “susceptible to change in the future.” We take that to mean that Phoenix reserves the right to cancel plans for either version if necessary.
Update: Some of the above features are actually live as of this writing. All Dauntless players can access the revamped Mastery system, Terra element, and more.
