During a recent anniversary livestream event, Dead by Daylight developer Behavior Interactive unveiled its plans for the game’s fourth year. Dead by Daylight’s fourth year of support will include four new content chapters spread throughout the entire year. Each chapter will include new quality-of-life features, new playable characters, existing content reworks, and more.
Dead by Daylight Year 4 Content Roadmap
Behavior Interactive summarized its Year 4 content plans with the handy roadmap image you can see above. The studio also took to Twitter to link over to a new overview video you can watch below.
Dead by Daylight’s four new Year 4 content updates cover chapters 12-15. Behavior will also release new content additions in-between each major chapter update to ensure there are no major content droughts. Chapter 12 is currently scheduled to launch sometime this month and it will include the previously unveiled killer Ghost Face.
In-between chapters 12 and 13, Behavior will implement a major rework for existing killer Freddy Krueger. This rework will balance out Freddy’s unique powers and active skills, and make him more fun to play overall. The in-between update will also rework the existing Badham Preschool map.
We don’t know too much yet about chapters 13-15, but Behavior confirmed they’ll include features like new maps and new chapter themes. They’ll also assumedly add in new playable killers and survivors, we just don’t know who they are yet. The in-between updates, meanwhile, will be dedicated to Dead by Daylight’s new Archive and Rift features.
Archives and Rifts
Archives include challenges which, when completed, unlock in-universe lore tidbits, Blood Points, cosmetic charms, and other rewards. Rifts, meanwhile, are basically Dead by Daylight’s version of Fortnite’s Battle Pass. By playing matches and completing challenges, players can unlock Rift-exclusive cosmetic rewards via both free and paid reward tracks.
Over the course of Year 4, Behavior will also make improvements to Dead by Daylight’s matchmaking and server systems. Dedicated servers are on the way, as are party management tools which allow friends to stay grouped across multiple matches. Lastly, Behavior announced a September 24 release date for Dead by Daylight’s Nintendo Switch version. A mobile version is also planned, but Behavior says it’s still a long way out.
