Destiny universe is divided into two parts – PvP and PvE. Just like the dedicated player-base for Destiny 2’s PvE (Strikes, Raids, Story missions, etc), there is a huge player-base who prefer playing PvP (like myself) instead of D2’s PvE. When Destiny 2 first launched in 2017, Bungie made the game way simpler which came in with the removal of most of the stuff that players liked in Destiny 1’s PvP. 3v3 Elimination was removed, Destiny 2’s PvP was turned into flat 4v4 matches whether it’s Trials of the Nine or classic Quickplay.
But, later on in Year 1 &2, Bungie really worked and redeemed themselves in making Destiny 2 a better game than it was at launch. And we can see clearly how much the Destiny 2 universe has evolved since it first came out.
3v3 Elimination is Finally Back
Today, Bungie released the final Director’s Cut by Luke Smith (Game Director at Bungie). This blog-post focuses on the PvP aspect of the game and talks about the Evolving world of Destiny 2.We all know that 3v3 Elimination was removed in Destiny 2 (and it was the fan-favorite PvP game mode in Destiny 1). Well, we have some good news. In the article, Luke Smith confirmed that 3v3 Elimination will be returning in Destiny 2 with Shadowkeep.
This mode will be first available in Crucible Labs as it’s not yet finished and requires some more tuning. Here’s what he said:
“We’ve also been working on four variants of 3v3 Elimination. They include different approaches to revives (token resurrection or not) and variations on how Heavy ammo works. Elimination is going to make its return in Crucible Labs. However, Elimination is very much unfinished. It’s missing VO, and there are no unique medals associated with it. Between the missing polish and the four variants we’d like your feedback on, Elimination—for the time being—is a great fit for Crucible Labs. We fully expect it to graduate out of Labs and find a warmer home.”
Destiny 2: Shadowkeep will be hitting PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, on October 1, 2019, and later in November on Google Stadia.
