Destiny 2: Bungie is Buffing Drop Rates for Reckoning Weapons

Mere days after it confirmed increased drop rates for Destiny 2’s Dreaming City/Last Wish items, Bungie has more good news. The drop rates for Reckoning-exclusive weapons are getting a similar buff in the game’s upcoming 2.2.1 update.

Over on the official Bungie forums, community manager Cozmo confirmed the upcoming Reckoning weapons drop rate buffs. According to Cozmo, several previously Reckoning-exclusive weapons will also be added to the Gambit Prime loot pool. This should make those weapons easier to find for dedicated Gambit Prime/Reckoning players.

Here’s Cozmo’s full announcement:

“We will be increasing the drop rates of weapons in The Reckoning in Update 2.2.1. We will also be adding most of the weapons to the loot pool of Gambit Prime to increase the ways you can earn Season of the Drifter weapons. Most weapons will have a chance to drop at the end of Gambit Prime matches. Your drop chance will also increase in both Gambit Prime and the Reckoning every match you don’t get a weapon to prevent long droughts without a drop. Eventually, you will be guaranteed a drop.”

The one disclaimer Cozmo mentioned is that three specific weapons will remain Reckoning-exclusive. Those weapons are the Doomsday grenade launcher, Gnawing Hunger auto rifle, and Just In Case sword. The six Reckoning weapons that are coming to Gambit Prime are as follows:

  • Sole Survivor sniper rifle
  • Outlast pulse rifle
  • Last Man Standing shotgun
  • Night Watch scout rifle
  • Spare Rations hand cannon
  • Lonesome sidearm

This combined with the upcoming Ada-1 weapon frame changes mean it’s a great time for Destiny 2 weapon collectors. The 2.2.1 update will enable Ada-1’s full weapon frame stock, no more limited weekly rotations. Destiny 2’s 2.2.1 update is currently scheduled to deploy on Tuesday, April 9. It will be the first major update following the start of Destiny 2’s Season of the Drifter.
