With the impending launch of Destiny 2’s Season of Opulence, some players are likely wondering what’s coming next. Well, they won’t have to wonder for much longer. Bungie has announced an upcoming June 6 livestream which will reveal what it’s calling “the next chapter” for Destiny 2.

Bungie announced the upcoming livestream via its official Twitter account. The Twitter post confirms the livestream will take place on Thursday, June 6, at 10 a.m. PST (1 p.m. EST).
The tweet’s included image specifically references Destiny 2, making it clear that Bungie has more content planned for the sequel. Some fans have been understandably worried that Bungie was ready to jump ship for a proposed Destiny 3. However, even if Destiny 3 is on the way, Bungie’s not quite ready to leave Destiny 2 behind.
Upcoming Content
Current fan speculation suggests that a second Forsaken-style expansion will launch for Destiny 2 this fall. The timing would make sense considering how the sequel’s Annual Pass has reached the end of its road. With tomorrow’s Season of Opulence launch (and coinciding Penumbra mini-expansion), Destiny 2’s Annual Pass is officially wrapped up.
The real question is where will Destiny 2’s story go after the Season of Opulence wraps up. Bungie has been slowly building a central story across the Forsaken, Black Forge, and Joker’s Wild expansions. That story will likely come to a head in Penumbra, but will it be totally resolved? There’s a chance players will have to wait until fall to see the ultimate culmination of the Forsaken expansion’s narrative. Somehow, elements like The Drifter, The Dreaming City, The Nine, and The Taken are all connected. The Season of Opulence should reveal more insights, but players may need to wait longer for the final puzzle pieces.
Meanwhile, the Season of Opulence also includes a new Crown of Sorrow raid experience. The new raid will also be available tomorrow, and Bungie is offering a special incentive for dedicated Destiny 2 raiders. Every player who clears the Crown of Sorrow raid by June 11 can purchase a Crown of Sorrow raid jacket. The raid jacket will be available through the Bungie Rewards program.
