Destiny 2 Competitive playlist was added with Season 3 Warmind in Year 1. Back then, the matchmaking system was a whole lot of mess. Getting to even 2100 (Fabled) was really hard. But, with Forsaken, Bungie changed up some things in the Competitive section. And now, with Shadowkeep, there are a lot of updates and changes heading to the Competitive playlist. First off, a new matchmaking system is being introduced, and a Solo queue for solo players.
Destiny 2 Competitive is Looking Bright in Shadowkeep
In recent weeks, Bungie released a TWAB blog-post that contained all of the PvP changes that are heading to the Shadowkeep in 8 days from now. According to Bungie, Competitive playlist will be changing to a 3v3 Survival-only playlist. Solo Queue will also been added to the Destiny 2 Competitive for solo PvP players. And for those of you who still haven’t caught up with the news, Bungie is bringing 2 fan-favorite maps from Destiny 1 to Destiny 2 – Twilight Gap and Widow’s Court. As for the Matchmaking, here’s what Bungie has to say about it:
As you play in the Survival playlist, the Glory system will accelerate you to the rank that corresponds to your skill rating. If your current rank is below where your skill rating says you should be, you’ll earn extra Glory based on the criteria above so you can get to your expected rank faster and lose less Glory so you don’t fall farther away. Once you reach your “expected” rank, Glory gains and losses will normalize.
Meanwhile, your skill rating is continually adjusting based on your performance, shifting the system’s understanding of your “expected” rank, and causing the Glory system to respond by pulling you toward that rank. The result should be that over time, your Glory rank will become an accurate reflection of your skill. It also means that teammates of different skill will experience different Glory adjustments from the same Survival match
Destiny 2: Shadowkeep will be hitting PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, on October 1, 2019, and later in November on Google Stadia.
