At long last, Bungie has blown the door wide open on Destiny2’s upcoming Season of the Drifter. Next week’s new content season encompasses both free and paid content additions spread across the following months. Those who own Destiny 2’s Annual Pass will naturally benefit the most from Season of the Drifter. However, even base Forsaken players have some new surprises to look forward to.
Destiny 2 Season of the Drifter ViDoc
Bungie unveiled Season of the Drifter (and its accompanying Joker’s Wild expansion) via a new behind-the-scenes ViDoc. The ViDoc features commentary from various Bungie developers as they outline the Season of the Drifter’s new content additions.
The main highlights for Season of the Drifter include a new Gambit Prime mode and Invitations from the Nine bounties. However, that’s just the tip of the massive Season of the Drifter iceberg. We’ve rounded up all the new Season of the Drifter features below along with the embedded ViDoc.
Season of the Drifter Highlights
- Gambit Prime – A fresh new Gambit experience which will feature new gameplay mechanics and designated player roles.
- Invitations from the Nine – Weekly bounties which players can pick up from Xur starting on March 15. Over nine weeks these bounties will award new gear and lore entries to those who complete them.
- The Reckoning – A new endgame PvE mode which ties into Gambit Prime. The Reckoning features a number of difficulty tiers, matchmaking, and the chance to earn pinnacle armor for Gambit Prime.
- Allegiance Quests – Starting on March 12, players can take on new Allegiance Quests. These narrative-driven quests involve siding with either the Drifter or the Vanguard and seeing events from their perspective. Allegiance Quests are character-specific so players with multiple characters can see all sides of the story.
- Thorn Exotic Quest – March 12 is also when players can earn one of the most infamous guns in Destiny history: Thorn. The Thorn Exotic quest will likely have a similar format as the previous Last Word quest.
Destiny 2’s Season of the Drifter content season officially begins next Tuesday, March 5. Along with all of the above, Annual Pass owners will be able to quickly boost up to 640 power. In the meantime, there’s still a little time left before the current Season of the Forge ends.
