Destiny 2’s newly revamped Faction Rallies have proven to be a rather divisive feature among the game’s playerbase. While the Faction Rallies allow players to earn some pretty cool rewards, actually earning those rewards requires some pretty intense grinding since each Faction Rally only lasts a single week, and there will only be three rallies in total before the end of the currently ongoing third content season. However, Bungie has now eased some of that pressure a bit by confirming that the most coveted Faction Rally rewards, the new exotic weapon catalysts, will still be available in some capacity after season three ends.
Currently, each of the three factions that players can pledge their loyalty to as part of the Faction Rally events has an associated weapon catalysts. For the black-clad Dead Orbit faction, the catalyst on offer is for the exotic pulse rifle Graviton Lance. Meanwhile, the Future War Cult is offering a catalyst for the Sunshot exotic hand cannon, and regal New Monarchy faction allows members to earn a catalyst for the exotic auto rifle Sweet Business.
The problem, though, is that players can only pledge themselves to a single account-wide faction per rally, which means that those who want to earn all three catalysts in season three have to grind out the reputation needed to earn each catalyst not once but three times. This is obviously a very unappealing prospect for more casual players who might struggle to find the time and/or motivation to grind out even one catalyst, let alone all three. Fortunately, Bungie recently confirmed that the Faction Rally catalyst grind won’t be as strictly mandatory as was originally believed.
Responding to Destiny 2 YouTuber Pyro Gaming on Twitter, Bungie community manager Dmg04 confirmed there will be a way to earn the Faction Rally weapon catalysts after season three ends while also saying that Bungie doesn’t plan on adding a fourth Faction Rally to season three (some fans had requested the addition of a fourth rally to give them more time to grind for the catalysts).
1. Yes, there will be ways to acquire them. More details on that later this summer.
2. There are currently no plans to add a 4th Faction Rallies event.— dmg04 (@A_dmg04) June 25, 2018
The current assumption is that the Faction Rallies will be getting new catalysts to earn once season three ends and Destiny’s Year Two content run begins with the launch of season four in September. How exactly players will be able to earn the old catalysts remains to be seen, but Dmg04 promises more details will be revealed later this summer.
