A few weeks ago, the first post-Forsaken version of Destiny 2’s Iron Banner PvP event arrived, allowing players to see how well their PvP skills stacked up in Forsaken’s new meta. However, players were ultimately dissatisfied with how the event was implemented, and now Bungie has said it will be tweaking the Iron Banner based on the feedback it received.
There were two specific issues that players had with the most recent Iron Banner: the event’s list of weekly bounties ultimately felt too grindy and worse, most of them didn’t even award gear that was good enough to make the incessant grinding worth the effort. Bungie addressed this feedback directly in the most recent This Week at Bungie blog post, saying that changes will be made for future Iron Banner events.
Bungie also promises that from now on all six bounties will grant Powerful Gear upon completion. This will ensure that Iron Banner serves as a viable means of improving overall power. To ease such efforts even further, all six of the weekly bounties have had their requirements reduced:
Destiny 2 Iron Banner Bounty Changes
- Lightbearer: Super kills reduced to 20 from 25
- Iron in the Blood: Match completions reduced to 15 from 30
- Shine On: Orbs generated reduced to 50 from 100
- Iron Victory: Match wins reduced to 7 from 10
- To Be Precise: Precision kills reduced to 50 from 100
- All in a Week’s Work: Kills reduced to 150 from 250
The above changes should ensure that the Iron Banner event is both more accessible and also more rewarding. Bungie hasn’t confirmed when exactly the next Iron Banner will be happening, but it likely won’t be a long wait. In the original Destiny, Iron Banner was a more casual-friendly alternative to raiding for endgame progression. It looks as if Destiny 2’s iteration is slowly inching towards the same premise.
