Destiny 2’s newly arrived Forsaken expansion drastically raises the game’s maximum Power Level cap, and it uses that raised cap to good effect by locking certain story missions and other activities behind specific recommended Power Level barriers (to prevent players from blazing through the story campaign). If you’re struggling to consistently get your Power Level high enough to bypass these barriers, one member of the Destiny Reddit community has shared a handy strategy for you to follow.
As Redditor etownguy recently shared over on the official Destiny subreddit, one of the many new UI features introduced in the Forsaken expansion is the Collections inventory tab. Discarded items which have been unlocked in the Collections tab can be re-bought for a small fee, at which point they’ll be instantly added back to the player’s inventory. However, when a Collections item is re-bought, its Power Level is automatically set using the player’s average Power Level as a determining factor.
What this essentially means is that, if you ever find yourself with one item in particular whose Power Level is lagging seriously behind the rest of your items (and thus drastically dragging down your average), buying a Collection item for that slot can be a handy and quick way to shrink that deficit. Granted, the strategy isn’t entirely foolproof since Collection items usually drop at around 20 Power Level lower than your current average. However, if, for example, the rest of your items are sitting at around 450 Power and yet you haven’t managed to find anything to replace your 403 class item, the Collections tab can come through in a pinch since it can grant you a fresh new class item that will be around 430 in Power.
Putting the time in to finish Destiny 2 Forsaken’s new story campaign is definitely worth the effort since it’s also how you can finally claim the expansion’s exclusive pre-order and Deluxe Edition items.
