Destiny 2: Forsaken’s Scorn Enemies Will Have Several Different Archetypes

Destiny 2’s Forsaken expansion will introduce a brand new enemy faction for players to do battle with: the Scorn, a race of creatures that were once Fallen but which have essentially become their own unique race thanks to mutations caused by prolonged exposure to corrupted ether. Much like Destiny 2’s other enemy factions, the Scorn will have its own hierarchy of different enemy classes and archetypes, each providing a different challenge for players to overcome.

Get ready for enemies both big and small.

According to this Reddit roundup post which has consolidated information from Game Informer’s August cover story of the Forsaken expansion, there will be six Scorn archetypes in total. Each archetype will have its own designation and attack strategies, and different archetypes will require different strategies to defeat. The archetypes are as follows:

  • Mongrels – Hulking brutes which basically function as the Scorn’s shock troopers. They can shoot out lightning arcs that are apparently difficult to avoid.
  • Screeb – These lithe combatants scuttle around on all fours, making them hard to get a bead on. Worse, if they get too close to the player, they can detonate in a similar manner as the Hive’s Cursed Thralls.
  • Raiders – Not only can Raiders deploy spinning void blade projectiles that explode if they hit a player, they can also teleport around the battlefield, making them an annoying adversary to deal with.
  • Ravagers – You might have spotted one of these guys in the initial Forsaken reveal vidoc. Ravagers tout a spinning flaming lantern which, when slammed into the ground, create a spout of damaging Solar energy. However, players can disable the Solar spouts by shooting the lantern’s flaming head.
  • Lurkers – Similar to the Cabal Centurions, Lurkers carry shields which they can use to directly block projectiles. However, Lurker shields won’t be quite as large as those wielded by the Cabal, and in fact shooting a Lurker in its exposed legs sounds like it will be the ideal method to defeat them.
  • Chieftains – Scorn Chieftains will be the highest echelon of the standard Scorn enemies you’ll encounter, comparable to Fallen Captains or Hive Knights. In battle, Chieftains will be able to deploy one of three different elemental totems. Solar totems will emit a spinning turret of flames, Void totems will shield nearby Scorn, and Arc totems will actually pull players towards their center, forcing the player to destroy them if they want to freely move again.

The Reddit post also says that the Scorn will be the most aggressive of all of Destiny 2’s enemy factions, so players should make sure they’re adequately prepared whenever they encounter Scorn foes. Along with the new Scorn faction, Destiny 2’s Forsaken expansion will also add in new Guardian skill trees and super abilities, a full breakdown of which you can find here.
