Destiny 2: Forsaken’s Story Campaign Will Involve Teaming Up With a Fallen Captain

We already know a fair amount about Destiny 2’s upcoming Forsaken expansion, including how it will add new supers and sub-class trees into the game, and how it will feature a darker narrative with a central theme of personal revenge. However, thanks to a recent Reddit info dump of all the information contained in Game Informer’s Forsaken August cover story, we now also know yet another interesting detail: one of the major allies players will be making in the expansion’s story campaign will be a Fallen Captain.

Strange times make for strange allies.

Specifically, the Fallen Captain will be known simply as ‘The Spider’ (at least according to the Reddit post) and he’ll function as the central vendor/quest giver for the Forsaken campaign’s Tangled Shore region. As part of the expansion’s story, players will forge an uneasy alliance with The Spider (he is a member of the Fallen after all), and part of that alliance will actually involve The Spider’s Fallen enforcers assisting players during Forsaken story missions. However, The Spider will naturally expect repayment for the aid he offers, and that repayment will mainly take the form of players hunting down his enemies and disposing of them.

Interestingly enough, the act of hunting down known outlaws for The Spider will actually tie into Forsaken’s endgame (again, going by what the Reddit post alludes to). These outlaws will apparently show up as random enemy appearances in a variety of different game modes, which means players may find them while out in the overworld, progressing through a Strike, participating in a Gambit match, or even while attempting a Lost Sector on one of Destiny 2’s existing planetary destinations.

It’s not clear yet whether The Spider will offer a specific list of targets to hunt and places where those targets can potentially be found, or if players simply encounter these outlaws with no prior prompt while adventuring and can then turn in proof of the kill to The Spider after the fact. Either way, it sounds like it will be a fairly compelling gameplay loop for players who already enjoy getting the most out of what Destiny 2 offers.
