The week-long token gathering phase for Destiny 2’s second season 3 Faction Rally has officially wrapped, and as prior predictions indicated, Future War Cult has taken the win. This is a particularly big deal for Future War Cult fans since it’s the first Faction Rally win Future War Cult has gotten during Destiny 2’s lifetime, and even if you didn’t pledge to the Future War Cult yourself, you can still snag a pretty neat weapon as a consolation prize.
Since Future War Cult was victorious, all Destiny 2 players can now visit the FWC faction representative, Lakshmi-2 to purchase a new Legendary tier sidearm called The Vision, a weapon that can fire three-round bursts and comes equipped with handy perks such as Kill Clip (bonus damage for reloading after scoring a kill), Accurized Rounds (increased range), and Appended Mag (larger magazine size).
You can purchase The Vision even if you didn’t pledge to Future War Cult, you’ll just have to pay a higher Glimmer price than those who did choose to side with Laksmhi-2 and her ilk. As a special bonus, the first iteration of The Vision purchased will always be a guaranteed masterwork, making it well worth buying even if you do have to pay a higher Glimmer premium.
Fans over on the official Destiny subreddit are already crediting a large part of the Future War Cult victory to one player in particular, a player who goes by the Reddit handle UnLikelyHero420 and who, for the sake of science, grinded out a whopping total of 8,400 faction tokens so they could reach rank 420 with the Future War Cult (cue the incoming cannabis jokes). Since a Faction Rally victory is determined by the total number of rank reward packages redeemed by members of that faction, it’s easy to see how Future War Cult was able to obtain its victory. The fact that reaching rank 50 awards the coveted Sunshot exotic weapon catalyst likely didn’t hurt the faction’s chances either.
Bungie plans to host one final season 3 Faction Rally on July 17, but in the meantime, some fans are already coming up with ideas on how Destiny 2’s factions component as a whole might be improved in the future.
