Destiny 2: Here’s Everything About The New PvP Mode – Momentum

Back when Shadowkeep was revealed for Destiny 2, Bungie rolled out a whole roadmap for the future of Destiny 2 Shadowkeep and what to expect in the coming weeks. In that roadmap, Bungie revealed that there will be a new PvP mode coming up with Shadowkeep called – Momentum in Destiny 2. This mode will be going live next week on Tuesday, October 29, 2019, along with the Festival of the Lost (check out our article on every reward you can get from Festival of the Lost this year here). Destiny 2 Momentum focuses more on Gunplay then Supers and abilities (as per the Bungie’s TWAB blog-post).

Destiny 2 Momentum Guide

In This Week at Bungie blog-post, Bungie talked about how this mode will be implemented in Destiny 2. They said that Momentum is all about the gunplay and how you play the Crucible instead of roaming around in your Supers. Here’s what they have to say about it:

“Next week, Lord Shaxx is mixing things up in the Crucible with a new mode called Momentum Control. While Mayhem puts focus on Supers, Momentum shifts your focus to gunplay. This is a fast-paced, hair-on-fire experience where the lethality of all weapons has been cranked to 11. You’re incentivized to be aggressive as you defeat other Guardians to earn charged melees, grenades, and Supers. Here’s a quick rundown of what to expect:

  • Instant Respawn Times
    • Out of the fight? No problem; drop right back in immediately
  • Weapon Damage Increased
    • Higher combat lethality
    • Everything in your arsenal is a contender
  • Ability Regen Requires Effort
    • Defeat enemy players to charge your melee, grenade, and Super
  • No Tracker
    • Sneak around your enemies for some sweet flanks
  • Amped Control
    • Zones capture faster and grant more bonus points per kill
  • Super Charged Supers
    • Increased damage resist in Super means you become the 1,000-pound gorilla
    • Be careful, because Heavy weapons will put you down quickly
  • The Heaviest of Ammo
    • Increased Heavy ammo respawn rates and drop amounts”

Destiny 2: Shadowkeep is now live on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, released on October 1, 2019, and later in November on Google Stadia.
