Starting today, June 25, Destiny 2 players can try their hand at the Heroic version of the Menagerie activity. As its name infers, the Heroic Menagerie will provide a stiffer challenge to fireteams, but also greater rewards. Bungie recently detailed how exactly the Heroic Menagerie will differ from the mode’s standard implementation.
Destiny 2 Heroic Menagerie Details
Bungie provided the full scoop on the Heroic Menagerie in this recent blog post. Firstly, and most obviously, Heroic Menagerie will have higher recommended power levels thanks to its tougher enemies and bosses. All fireteam players should have at least 750 power before venturing into the Heroic Menagerie. The Heroic version of the event will also slowly scale its power level difficulty up to 770.
Speaking of fireteams, the Heroic Menagerie also won’t support matchmaking. Players will have to manually link up into six-person fireteams if they want to take on Calus’ greatest challenges. This suggests that Heroic Menagerie’s difficulty will be on par with Destiny 2’s formal raids.
A big part of said difficulty will be the presence of two separate fail states. In the standard Menagerie, there’s really no way to “fail” individual encounters, but such is not the case for Heroic. Firstly, the Extinguish modifier is active. Extinguish means that if the entire fireteam is killed at any point, they’ll be kicked back to orbit. Encounters in the Heroic Menagerie will also never repeat, meaning the fireteam will do each encounter once. However, if the fireteam hasn’t unlocked the final boss fight after all encounters are finished, they’re kicked back to orbit.
Lastly, Bungie confirmed there will be new Triumphs and other rewards that are tied to the Heroic Menagerie. No specific were offered, but we can assume there will be unique weapons, armor, and other items to find.
Again, Destiny 2’s Heroic Menagerie arrives tomorrow, June 25, so gather your friends if you’re feeling up to the challenge. Calus may want you to succeed, but obtaining victory won’t be easy. Bungie also recently detailed how the Eververse will be changing later this year.
