Destiny 2’s newly launched 2.2.2 update came with one heck of a stealth feature. Players quickly discovered a brand new hidden quest which awards an Exotic weapon upon completion. That weapon is none other than Outbreak Perfected, a modified version of the original Destiny’s Outbreak Prime. In this guide, we’ll explain the steps for starting the Outbreak Perfected quest and how to ultimately claim the weapon.
Destiny 2 Outbreak Perfected Walkthrough
Before you begin the Outbreak Perfected quest, there are a few parameters you should meet first
- Finish Destiny 2’s base story campaign
- Clear the ‘Enemy of My Enemy’ story mission on Titan
- Reach a minimum power level of 690 (preferably 700)
As of this writing, the heroic story mission on Titan is the mission Bad Neighbors. Load into the mission and proceed through as normal. You’ll soon reach a windowed room with a Hive Shrieker (the large floating enemy that shoots purple projectiles). After killing the Shrieker, proceed into the red-lighted room directly behind it. To your left there’s a door that should open as long as you finished the Enemy of My Enemy mission.
Through the door is a hidden room, and on the floor of that room is a Fallen Transponder. Pick the transponder up to kick off the associated quest. You’ll need to find six different data nodes in six different Lost Sectors. Fortunately, four of those Lost Sectors are in the EDZ and the final two are on Nessus.
We’ve listed the six Lost Sectors below. You can also consult this Reddit thread for images on where exactly to look for the nodes themselves.
- The Drain in the EDZ’s Outskirts region
- Whispered Falls in the EDZ’s Outskirts region
- The Atrium in the EDZ’s Trostland region
- Widow’s Walk in the EDZ’s Trostland region
- The Carrion Pit in Nessus’ Glade of Echoes region
- The Rift in Nessus’ Exodus Black region
Zero Hour
Once you’ve found all six nodes, head to The Farm social space in the EDZ. As you load into The Farm, look to your right to spot a basement entrance for the main barn. Head into the basement and you’ll find the Fallen Captain Mithrax waiting for you.
Speak to Mithrax to begin a tough 690 power timed mission called Zero Hour. We recommend taking some friends along as the mission’s difficulty and 20-minute time limit are no joke. If you successfully complete the mission, Outbreak Perfected will be yours. Completing the mission once also unlocks an even tougher heroic version. If you clear the heroic version you’ll unlock the Outbreak Perfected catalyst.
Destiny 2’s Outbreak Perfected Exotic comes at a good time. Bungie is planning on nerfing Luna’s Howl and Not Forgotten, so hopefully Outbreak Perfected can make up the difference.
