Destiny 2’s Season of Opulence is finally here, bringing with it a bunch of new and refreshed content. Naturally there are major additions like new pinnacle weapons and the Menagerie activity, but that’s not all. Players have also discovered a number of quality-of-life changes which Bungie chose not to disclose ahead of the season’s launch.
Destiny 2 Hidden Quality-of-Life Changes
Several of the below changes were mentioned in the Season of Opulence patch notes, but not all. We went ahead and rounded up some of the more exciting changes we spotted. Whether you prefer Destiny 2’s PvE or PvP offerings, you’ll want to take a gander at the below list.
Destiny 2’s Curse of Osiris and Warmind Expansions Are Free For All Players
It seems the Season of Opulence update unlocked Destiny 2’s first two expansions for all players. Bungie hasn’t made any sort of announcement, but multiple players have reported having both expansions unlocked without buying them. This leads us to believe that it wasn’t an accident on Bungie’s part, but rather a hidden surprise for players.
Iron Banner Gear Can Roll With Enhanced Perks
Upcoming Iron Banner equipment will drop with enhanced perks according to this Reddit post. Bungie community manager dmg04 confirmed in the Reddit thread that this change was intentional.
Destiny 2’s Glass Modifier Is No More
Bungie confirmed via Twitter that the ever-unpopular Glass modifier has been retired. Glass made certain PvE activities much more frustrating by drastically lowering players’ survivability.
Weekly Strike Milestones No Longer Require Elemental Class Matching
Earning the weekly strike milestone once required that multiple team members had the same elemental sub-class equipped. However, said system was never very popular, and worse, it could be exploited. Now, a player merely needs to match the weekly elemental modifier to gain credit for the weekly milestone. Bungie confirmed this change in the same Twitter post as the Glass modifier’s removal.
Gunsmith Bounties That Award Enhancement Cores
There’s now a consistent (and pretty cheap) way to reliably obtain Enhancement Cores: Gunsmith Bounties. Banshee-44 now offers a series of daily and weekly weapon calibration bounties, each of which awards an Enhancement Core. The bounties themselves are also easy to complete since all they require is using specific weapon types to kill enemies. If you don’t mind grinding the bounties each day, you can build up a nice Enhancement Core stockpile before long.
