Today’s Season of Opulence launch comes with new pinnacle weapons for Destiny 2 players to earn. However, those who prefer the game’s existing arsenal have reason to celebrate as well. Bungie recently confirmed it’s making a series of changes (mostly buffs) to existing weapons and weapon types.
Destiny 2 Season of Opulence Weapon Tweaks
Bungie outlined the new weapon tweaks in its most recent Destiny 2 weekly blog post. Specifically, non-Exotic Fusion Rifles, Swords, and the Sturm and Drang weapon pair are all getting a few upgrades. We’ve outlined exactly how below.
Destiny 2 Fusion Rifles
- All non-Exotic Fusion Rifles are getting a PvE damage buff
- This damage buff increases the amount of damage dealt to PvE enemies by varying percentages based on the weapon’s type:
- High-Impact: 30 percent
- Adaptive: 44 percent
- Precision: 44 percent
- Rapid-Fire: 47 percent
- A few Exotic Fusion Rifles like Jotunn and Merciless received minor adjustments as a result of the non-Exotic changes.
- All Exotic Fusion Rifle damage buffs resulting from the non-Exotic changes are under five percent
- Bungie made these changes to shrink the performance gap separating Exotic and non-Exotic Fusion Rifles
Destiny 2 Swords
- All Swords have had their maximum ammo capacity increased to 70 and starting ammo increased to 10
- The ammo cost for certain attacks (mostly heavy attacks) has been increased to adjust for the increased ammo capacities
- These changes are meant to encourage mix-ups between light and heavy attacks rather than relying solely on heavy attacks
- New versions of existing Lightweight and Aggressive Sword types will start dropping in Season of Opulence
Sturm and Drang
- The Storm and Stress max overcharge round count has been increased to 99
- The ‘Sturm Overcharge’ buff text now displays the number of remaining overcharge rounds
- Overcharge damage has been buffed by 100 percent in PvE
- An updated version of Drang will start dropping in Season of Opulence to give the weapon pair more relevance
All of the above changes are going live alongside Destiny 2’s Season of Opulence. The Season of Opulence update should be available as of this writing.
