Destiny 2 Players Aren’t Happy About One Particular In-Game Triumph

One of the many new features that was added into Destiny 2 by way of its recently launched Forsaken expansion is an expansive in-game achievements system called Triumphs which tracks a player’s individual accomplishments across a variety of different categories. However, there’s one triumph in particular that doesn’t actually require any gameplay at all, and yet it’s also a triumph that players have been quick to voice their disapproval of.

There is one in-game triumph that players are not happy about.

As Redditor Tom_McTooth first posited on the official Destiny subreddit, one of Destiny 2’s new in-game triumphs can only be unlocked by players who purchased the game’s Limited Edition. That’s it. There’s no other way to unlock it. Either you bought the Limited Edition and get the triumph, or you didn’t and thus no triumph for you.

Now, clearly Bungie foresaw some players having a problem with a triumph being locked behind a specific game purchase, which is likely why a score of 0 was assigned to the triumph (each completed triumph awards a certain amount of score which is cumulatively added up and displayed on the player’s profile for bragging rights). However, as many commenters noted in Tom_McTooth’s thread, the lack of score doesn’t really matter. For completionists who enjoy unlocking every single reward in a game, knowing that you were kept from that ultimate goal simply because you didn’t buy a specific edition of Destiny 2 is frustrating to say the least.

What’s worse, other players also started reporting that the triumph in question was failing to even unlock for them even though they had in fact purchased Destiny 2’s Limited Edition. Fortunately, Bungie community manager dmg04 eventually responded to the matter, saying that the development team is aware of the issue that’s causing the Limited Edition triumph to remain locked even for those who own the Limited Edition. What’s more, dmg04 also passed along feedback saying that, overall, fans aren’t happy about a triumph that’s locked behind a real-life purchase.
