Destiny 2 Shadowkeep was announced back in June when Bungie revealed that they are splitting with Activision after 5 years of publishing Destiny. From that point forward, Bungie is developing and self-publishing Destiny franchise. According to Bungie, Shadowkeep stands out as a base for the game moving forward. After this, Bungie will deliver the story their way with no pressure from Activision.
Destiny 2 Shadowkeep – A New Start For The Franchise
Shadowkeep went live on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC earlier this week on Tuesday, October 1, 2019. There is some interesting stuff Bungie has put out with this expansion. The most interesting thing about this expansion is the Season of the Undying and future Seasons and how they’ll change the world of Destiny. As you know, Season of the Undying will start the Vex invasion across the Solar System and at the end of the season, we’ll eventually stop this invasion which will trigger the next season and so on.
My Thoughts on Shadowkeep
- Story
Destiny is all about having a rich storyline with compelling dialogues like, “that wizard came from the Moon.” With Forsaken, Destiny 2 story took another turn and started a new story with The Dreaming City and the Awoken. But after playing Shadowkeep’s story campaign, I can confidently say that we’re finally getting some answers regarding the Darkness and how it’s all going to end.
The most interesting thing about the story is that it’s all connected. After finishing the campaign, the story will continue with the new raid – Garden of Salvation. And after that, Vex Invasions will start that will initialize a whole new set of actions.
- Weapons and Armor 2.0
Destiny is all about grinding for better-rolled weapons and armor sets. With Shadowkeep, Bungie added new weapons and armor sets. For weapons, some of them feel great while others, not so much. But as far as Armor 2.0 is concerned, I think we’re going to have a lot of different builds using different types of armor pieces which is a fantastic job by Bungie.
- General Changes
Along with the new story campaign, new weapons and armor sets, and endgame activities, Bungie also revamped the whole quests tab added two new tabs for Seasons and the Eververse. So now, you can purchase stuff from the Eververse store without going to the Tower which is a great thing. On top of that, the new Nightmare Hunts, and Nightfall: Ordeal activities are phenomenal and deliver the true challenge to the players.
These are my initial thoughts on Destiny 2 Shadowkeep and how I felt going back to the Moon the second time after we first slew Crota, Son of Oryx. What are your thoughts on Shadowkeep’s campaign, weapons, and a new armor system? Let us know in the comments.
Destiny 2: Shadowkeep is now live on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, released on October 1, 2019, and later in November on Google Stadia.
