When Destiny first released in 2014, the first-ever raid released was Vault of Glass. And its still one of the most favorite raids in the community. After that, Bungie released Crota’s End and then King’s Fall (with The Taken King). And with the final expansion of Rise of Iron, Bungie released Wrath of the Machine which took place on Earth.
When Destiny 2 released in 2017, Bungie released their brand-new raid called Leviathan. It took place on a giant planet-eating space ship. Most of the community liked this raid – but the main problem with this raid was, there was only one Boss encounter in this raid which was Emperor Calus at the end. In the previous OG Destiny raids, we’ve had minimum 2 Boss encounters in a raid (except Crota’s End).
Moving on, Bungie released two raid lairs that also took place on the Leviathan and continued the storyline of Calus. Now with Shadowkeep, Bungie is releasing another brand-new raid. We don’t know what this raid is going to be about and who will we be fighting against. But, we do know the location of this raid.
Location of Shadowkeep Raid
In the Bungie ViDoc, Brian Frank (Design Lead at Bungie) revealed that the raid in Shadowkeep will be taking place in The Black Garden. Black Garden was the place where Guardians first encountered the Vex worshipping the Darkness. You can skip the ViDoc to 9:15 to see how it looks.
It’s really cool they’re bringing back Destiny 1 stuff in Destiny 2. That’s what the players have been asking for a very long time. We do know, Saturn will be back as well since it was teased in the post-credit cut-scene of Destiny 2 original campaign.
What are your thoughts on this upcoming Raid? As we all know, The Black Garden is related to the origin of The Darkness – so, we might be fighting against the Darkness for the first time in Destiny ever.
Destiny 2: Shadowkeep will release on September 17, 2019, on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC (later on Stadia).
