Back in the old day of Destiny 1, the PvP of the game was really in a good shape. Everything was almost balanced, and players were enjoying (not that we aren’t enjoying the PvP of Destiny 2 right now). The major part of the PvP in Destiny 1 was Trial of Osiris. Every weekend, this mode came and many of us tried to go to the Lighthouse on Mercury by going Flawless (7-9 wins without losses, I think). So, what happened? Why is Trial of Osiris not in Destiny 2? And why Bungie removed Trials of the Nine while it was still going?
Trials of Osiris and Trials of the Nine
Back in 2017, when Bungie released Destiny 2, they removed the original PvP game mode ‘Trials of Osiris’ and added ‘Trials of the Nine’ in its replacement. While the core mechanic of the mode was the same, there were some changes made by Bungie that didn’t bring the same feelings as Trials of Osiris. Trial of the Nine was the go-to PvP mode in Destiny 2. The major change in this mode as compared to its predecessor was, it required you to get more wins with losses than in Trials of Osiris.
Trials of the Nine: Weapons and Armor Sets
If we talk about the Weapons from Trials of the Nine, there were some really good and demolishing weapons you could get from Trials of the Nine, like Relentless. As for the Armor sets, it is without a doubt that Trials of the Nine armor was one of the best armor sets we’ve had in Destiny 2 so far.
Trials of Osiris, Should It Be Back in Destiny 2?
With the release of Elimination, it seems Bungie is leaning more towards the Destiny 1 stuff. Adding Elimination back and making Competitive back to 3v3 was really a great move by Bungie. But if we talk about Trials of Osiris, I, personally don’t think it’s the best idea to bring back Trials at this point in time. Don’t get me wrong, I would love to have Trials back and grind every weekend, but with the current state of Destiny 2 on PC, where hackers roam around without any fear of getting banned, it seems this would ruin the experience for everyone.
These are my thoughts on whether of not Trials of Osiris should be back. What are your thoughts on this? Let us know in the comments
