When Bungie first started adding pinnacle weapons in Destiny 2, there were only 1 for the Crucible – that was Redrix’s Claymore in Season 3 (Warmind). After that, in Season of the Forge, Bungie added one more pinnacle weapon (on top of the Crucible and Gambit pinnacle weapons) for Vanguard. After that, we’ve received a new pinnacle weapon every season. Today, we’ll be taking a look at how you can acquire Vanguard Pinnacle Weapons in Destiny 2.
Vanguard Pinnacle Weapons
There are currently three pinnacle weapons for Vanguard activities. The first one is called Loaded Question – an Arc fusion rifle. Secondly, in Season of the Drifter, we’ve got Oxygen SR3 – an energy Scout Rifle. This season, Bungie added a grenade launcher for the Vanguard pinnacle weapon called Wendigo-GL3. Its an Arc grenade launcher in the heavy slot.
Loaded Question – Arc Fusion Rifle
This was the first-ever pinnacle weapon added for the Vanguard in the Black Armory (just like Gambit). Its main perk is called Reservoir Burst “When the battery is full, your next burst deals additional damage and causes enemies to explode on death.” To unlock this weapon, visit Commander Zavala in the Tower and pick up Countdown to Zero quest.
- 500 Fusion Rifle kills
- 1,000 Arc kills
- 40 Strikes or Nightfalls completed
Oxygen SR3 – Solar Scout Rifle
In Season of the Drifter, we’ve got yet another pinnacle weapon for the Vanguard. This weapon was the least useful pinnacle weapon as of now. A lot of community is asking for rework on this weapon – since there are way better weapons to use in place of this. Its main perk is called Meganera “Dragonfly deals more damage based on the number of precision hits dealt beforehand.” Visit Zavala in the Tower and complete the pursuit Redeployment.

Wendigo-GL3 – Arc Grenade Launcher
This season, Bungie added a top-tier high DPS pinnacle weapon for the Vanguard. This weapon is well-received by the community and is being used in almost every raid for damage phase. The main perk on this weapon is called Explosive Light “Picking up Orb of Light increases the next grenade’s blast radius and damage.” Complete A Gift for the Worthy from Zavala in order to unlock this weapon.
