Destiny 2 Warmind DLC Teases New Upcoming Weapons

Destiny 2’s Warmind expansion has proven to be very lucrative for fans of the game’s various firearms and other armaments. Not only does the expansion add in a bunch of fresh new Legendary and Exotic weapons, it also significantly buffed a whole bunch of Destiny 2’s existing Exotic weapons. However, if a recently discovered bit of in-game lore is to be believed, fans of Destiny 2’s weaponry may have more surprises to look forward to.

As part of the Warmind DLC, players can venture to Mars and explore a brand new outdoor region called Hellas Basin. One of the new sub-regions players can find during their travels is an area called Aurora Reach, and nestled within Aurora Reach is a usable computer terminal that, when activated, provides some background context on Braytech, the company that made the DLC’s titular Warmind Rasputin.

The narration provided by the terminal makes reference to two Braytech projects that players are likely familiar with already, the Sleeper Simulant and Valkyrie, but it also mentions two additional projects called Hades Flame and Aurora Knives.

The Valkyrie is a new ‘relic weapon’ that takes the form of a flaming spear, functioning in a similar manner as the temporary Hive swords from the original Destiny (and which also show up in the Warmind DLC’s new Escalation Protocols). The Sleeper Simulant, meanwhile, is a powerful Exotic fusion rifle that first appeared in the original Destiny and that can be unlocked in Destiny 2 by completing an elaborate quest chain.

For now, Destiny 2 players have no idea what the Hades Flame and Aurora Knives projects could be referring to, though the purveying theory is that they could be new Exotic weapons which will be added to the game in the near future. A reference to the Aurora Knives was also made in the original Destiny’s Grimoire as being a weapon that was used by Rasputin, but that’s all players have to go on for the time being.
