One of the benefits of Destiny 2’s live service status is that Bungie can make tweaks and experiment as needed. One of the latest tweaks the developer has introduced is a pair of new in-game items. In this guide we’ll explain exactly what Destiny 2’s new Iron Burden and Wolf’s Favor items are.
Destiny 2 Iron Burdens and Wolf’s Favor
As their name implies, Iron Burdens and Wolf’s Favor are attached to Destiny 2’s Iron Banner PvP mode. The two items were introduced with the latest Iron Banner event which began earlier this week. Both items also tie into Iron Banner’s power level advantages by temporarily increasing or decreasing a player’s power level.
Iron Burdens
For five Iron Banner Tokens a player can purchase an Iron Burden consumable. When used, the Iron Burden lowers the player’s power level by 100, forcing them to rely more on individual skill.
The consumable also ties into a new season-long Triumph which requires defeating 500 opponents with Iron Burden active. If a player completes the Triumph they’ll earn a specially-curated fully masterworked Wizened Rebuke fusion rifle. The Triumph doesn’t have to be completed during the currently ongoing Iron Banner event. Players have the entirety of the Season of the Drifter to complete the Triumph and unlock the Wizened Rebuke.
Wolf’s Favor
Juxtaposing the Iron Burden is the Wolf’s Favor. When used, Wolf’s Favor temporarily increases a player’s power level by 100 points (up to the current cap of 700). This boost is meant to encourage otherwise PvP-adverse players to give Iron Banner a try. Wolf’s Favor consumables can randomly drop when completing the following PvE activities:
- Vanguard Strikes
- Nightfall Strikes
- Gambit Matches
- Flashpoints
- Hawthorne’s Weekly Clan XP Milestone
- Ikora’s Weekly Bounty Milestone
