Destiny 2’s Ace of Spades Quest is now Easier to Complete

One of the new Exotic weapon quests that Bungie added in with Destiny 2’s recently launched Forsaken expansion is tied to the Ace of Spades hand cannon, the signature firearm once wielded by the Hunter Vanguard Cayde-6. One of the first steps of the quest involves playing Forsaken’s new Gambit game mode, but players were quick to express their distaste for the quest step’s implementation since it encourages selfish behavior in a team-oriented mode.

Now, with the launch of Destiny 2’s 2.0.3.1 hotfix, Bungie has modified the quest step to both make it more accessible to casual players and espouse Gambit’s cooperative elements.

Originally, the quest step in question tasked players with earning five invader kills in Gambit while using a hand cannon. It was a tall order to be sure since only kills scored against invading players counted, you didn’t get any credit by killing enemy players when you yourself were the invader. Given how invading players are granted an overshield and are usually packing heavy weaponry or a primed super, it could take even skilled PvP fans quite a while to earn the five invader kills required to fulfill the quest step’s requirements.

Cayde-6 would be proud of how many Destiny 2 players are wielding his Ace of Spades.

Thankfully, as Bungie noted in its most recent This Week at Bungie blog post, the quest step has been altered with Destiny 2’s latest hotfix. Now, the quest step comes with an attached progress meter which can be filled by killing either enemy invaders or AI foes in Gambit while using a hand cannon. Killing invaders grants more progress than killing AI enemies, but overall the quest step can at least be completed by even the most casual players as long as they’re willing to invest the time needed to fill the meter.

The rest of the quest’s individual steps remain unaltered, ensuring that players will still have to put the necessary time and effort in if they want to add the Ace of Spades to their arsenal. However, with the altered Gambit step, the entire quest at least looks a lot less intimidating to players who aren’t terribly confident in their own PvP abilities.
