When Destiny 2’s newest raid, The Last Wish, was finally beaten shortly after its debut last week, the victory kicked off a chain reaction which wound up unlocking new gameplay features for the game’s entire community. Now, that chain reaction has taken another turn, with the game’s latest weekly reset activating new Dreaming City visual effects, a new mission to complete, and new quests which unlock two of the Forsaken expansion’s most unusual Exotic weapons.
Players who visit the Dreaming City will now find that the Taken curse which was unleashed after the Last Wish victory has progressed even more, and said progression is represented in more than just a visual way. If you’ve been following along the new series of Dreaming City story missions, there’s yet another mission waiting for you called Dark Monastery which provides further context on the curse.
There are also not one but two new Exotic weapon quests available to endgame players, but you should be warned that both quests require some serious dedication and skill to complete. The first quest is for the Wish-Ender exotic bow, a weapon which allows you to see enemies through walls while you’re aiming it (and yes that applies to PvP matches as well). As this Reddit walkthrough shows, getting your hands on the Wish-Ender requires spending a lot of time in the Dreaming City and challenging the 590 power enemies who await in the newly added Shattered Throne mission.
The second quest is for the Exotic hand cannon Malfeasance, a weapon that deals bonus damage against Taken enemies and Gambit invaders, and also triggers an explosion of bonus damage if you can land five consecutive shots on the same enemy. According to this guide, merely starting the Malfeasance quest requires a little luck, and no matter what you should be ready to play quite a bit of the new Gambit game mode if you want to add the weapon to your arsenal.
All of the above doesn’t event take into account the new details that Bungie dropped during the recent TGS 2018 convention, details regarding the prestige version of the Last Wish raid and the upcoming Festival of the Lost event. Suffice it to say, Bungie seems hell-bent on making sure there aren’t any more content drops for Destiny 2, and that means only good things for the game’s playerbase.
