Lately, a large majority of Destiny 2 players have noticed an annoying new quirk that’s affecting the game’s loot pool: a particular Legendary tier grenade launcher called Edge Transit has been dropping with alarming frequency. Some players suspected that there was some sort of bug or glitch causing the increased Edge Transit drop rate, and now Bungie itself has confirmed that such is indeed the case.
Within the most recent This Week at Bungie blog post, Bungie announced that, after conducting an internal investigation, it had discovered that Edge Transit has indeed been dropping much more frequently than intended, and it is working on a fix:
“Since the launch of Destiny 2: Forsaken, we have heard player feedback regarding the aggressive drop rates of the Edge Transit Grenade Launcher. Our investigation has confirmed that this weapon is dropping more frequently than intended, and we are pursuing a fix for a future update.”
The high frequency of Edge Transit drops was so prevalent that it quickly became a meme, spawning satirical posts like this one and this one over on the official Destiny subreddit. Gaming publication Kotaku also couldn’t resist taking a little jab at the weapon’s insanely high drop rate. One Destiny 2 raiding group even found its own way to make light of the situation by defeating the final boss of the Last Wish raid while using only the Edge Transit:
A timetable for when the Edge Transit bug will be fixed hasn’t yet been confirmed, but Destiny 2 players can at least rest easy knowing that this weird Edge Transit loot limbo they currently find themselves in won’t be permanent. Meanwhile, there are other issues that continue to plague Destiny 2 in the wake of its Forsaken expansion launch, some which Bungie is actively working on, and others which have yet to be addressed.
