Tomorrow, Destiny 2’s newest raid experience, The Last Wish, will officially arrive as part of the game’s recently launched Forsaken expansion. To commemorate the occasion, Bungie has gone ahead and released a new trailer which sets the stage for what will undoubtedly be the toughest challenge Destiny 2: Forsaken players will face (at least until the raid’s Prestige version arrives).
As can be seen in the below trailer, The Last Wish involves players venturing deep into The Dreaming City, home of the Awoken race, at the behest of the Queensguard Petra Venj. There, fireteams will directly confront the Taken corruption that has seeped into the city and, hopefully, eradicate it for good. Of course, as has been the case with previous Destiny and Destiny 2 raids, players who journey into The Last Wish likely won’t be able to beeline straight to the heart of the corruption, instead having to first find and defeat a series of more minor (yet no less tough) boss encounters first.
Those who triumph in The Last Wish raid will earn themselves some suitably coveted rewards for their efforts, and Bungie is even taking steps to ensure that downtime is minimal should a fireteam have to retry a particular boss fight. The end of the trailer also notes that Bungie will be hosting a livestream of the world’s first race for The Last Wish, chronicling the efforts of dedicated raid teams who will be competing to see which among them can make it to the end of the raid first.
The release of The Last Wish raid is certainly a notable occasion, but it’s far from the last major Forsaken feature that Destiny 2 players can look forward to. Bungie plans on implementing additional story and gameplay developments over the coming months, not least of which is the upcoming Breakthrough game mode that will arrive on September 25 as a free addition for all players.
