In an end-of-year message on Twitter, the studio hinted at an upcoming announcement, most likely to be their next game…

A Detroit: Become Human Sequel? Quantic Dream’s Upcoming Announcement

The success of Detroit: Become Human was certainly one of the more memorable tales of 2018. The game quickly won over a global audience, enjoying surprisingly strong sales in Japan, where Western games often fail to make an impact. In its first month alone, the game outpaced the sales of Heavy Rain by 20%, and became the most watched new release on Twitch. Unfortunately for Quantic Dream, 2018 was also marred by scandal. A few months after the release, the studio lost a damning lawsuit filed against them by a former employee; one of several they were involved in related to an allegedly toxic and abusive workplace culture.

Quantic Dream Announcement Coming Soon

No doubt Quantic Dream is hoping to put their best foot forward in 2019. Indeed, they certainly have an audience of fans who are waiting excitedly for news. The end-of-year Tweet doesn’t go into any details, but an announcement of their next game would be the most likely news to come from the studio. Notably, Quantic Dream have never made a sequel. However, studio head David Cage suggested six months ago that there could be a sequel to Detroit: Become Human if; “we feel we have ideas, passion and excitement to do it, and if we feel we have something more to say about this world. […] we enjoyed working on Detroit a lot, and there are many exciting stories that could be told in this world for sure.”

Fans should keep an eye out for news coming from Quantic Dream in the coming weeks and months. There’s no guarantee that their next game will be a Detroit: Become Human sequel, of course. However, considering the game’s record-breaking performance, Quantic Dream certainly has plenty of reasons to make Detroit: Become Human a series.
