Respawn Reveals New Apex Legends Map in Escape Gameplay Trailer

The next season of Apex Legends is almost here, and with its launch, the game will be getting a brand-new map; Storm Point. Now, Respawn has given fans their first in-game look at the new fourth map, which takes place on a tropical island on a planet named Gaea. Once a research facility of the IMC, it not plays host to the Apex Games.

Apex Legends Escape: The New Storm Point Map

According to Respawn, the new Storm Point map is the largest Apex Legends map ever, at around 15% larger than World’s Edge. The map spans a wide variety of sites and locations, from the tropical beaches to dense mountain trails and old IMC ruins. Notably absent from Storm Point are the usual redeploy balloons. Instead, players will be able to make use of a new device; Gravity Cannons. These ramps will send players soaring through the air and across the map.

Another major difference that Storm Point has compared to other maps is that it features active fauna. “On Storm Point,” writes Respawn; “players will be dropping into a world that is teeming with dangerous wildlife. Wildlife Nests are exciting new combat encounters that offer strategic looting options for squads as they plan their paths through to the mid-stages of a match!”

Players can expect to encounter Prowlers, pack hunters who can quickly swarm players who get too close, as well as Spiders. Spider Eggs can be found across Storm Point, and damaging one will cause the spiders inside to emerge. Capable of spitting webs, spiders are ranged threats, though weaker than Prowlers. Finally, Flyers will also appear on Storm Point. Non-aggressive, Flyaers spawn individually in a random set of locations. Shooting them causes them to drop loot.

While Storm Point features 17 named sites of interest, it also includes smaller “Spill-Off Camps”. These camps provide players with alternative locations to drop in and loot gear at the start of a match, if they don’t want to drop into one of the more dangerous key sites.
