DICE recently opened nominations for recipients of a new Battlefield 5 emblem; the ‘DICE Friends emblem’. This special emblem will be given to publicly nominated recipients, chosen by DICE, who have supported the studio or Battlefield 5 in some manner. This can range from help tracking bugs to community organising or tournament involvement.
The Battlefield 5 DICE Friends Emblem
The Battlefield 5 DICE Friends nominations were announced on Reddit by Braddock512, the US Community Manager for the Battlefield franchise; “We’re kicking off the first round of nominations for the DICE Friends emblem for Battlefield 5,” he said, before providing details of the new emblem and the nomination process. DICE defines a ‘DICE Friend’ as; “a nominated Battlefield 5 player who has helped DICE and Battlefield 5 through things like community building, events, tournaments, bug tracking help, or other positive influences.”
Anybody can nominate someone for consideration using the following survey link; simply fill out the survey for everyone you want to nominate. Although you can technically nominate yourself, DICE are likely to look much more favourably on those nominated by others due to the community emphasis of the award. A committee in DICE will consider each nomination based on the person’s involvement with the game’s community. They will then choose those who are most worthy to receive the DICE Friends emblem. The committee will consider community nominations, as well as recommendations from the game’s developers and regional community managers.
The Emblem Serves as a Mark of Recognition
DICE stresses that this isn’t something people should be trying to get for the achievement of it. Rather, they hope to use it to acknowledge some of the best and most constructive people in the community; “Those who will receive the DICE Friends emblem aren’t doing it for the nomination or for recognition,” they explain; “They’re building the community because they love this franchise/game/community.”
As a final note, DICE does remind fans that they have had to remove similar awards in previous Battlefield games from recipients if they have damaged the community at a later date; “cheating, abuse, etc.,” they explain; “This award isn’t a Free Pass to act foolishly. Those that receive a code for the in-game emblem will have the code tied to their account, so no giving the code away.”
