DICE Reveals New Details About the Battlefield 5 Marita Map

The Battlefield 5 Marita map is the second new map to arrive in the game in Chapter 4 of Tides of War, following the release of Al Sundan. Set in Greece, Marita is the second half of the two Battle of Greece maps. The first, Mercury, was brought to the game in the latter half of Chapter 3. Marita is now available in-game, and offers players a different sort of gameplay experience than any other map so far.

“It’s 1941,” explains DICE; “and the Battle of Greece continues as Allied forces cling desperately to every inch they can hold while Axis forces do their best to crush them beneath their iron heel. Whether you choose to dig in for a last stand with the defenders or try to overwhelm your enemies with the attackers, you’ll need to be prepared for the map’s verticality. Holding the high ground is imperative, especially in the main village, but even the more rural areas contain slopes, walls, and multi-storey homes offering a variety of options to players. While there are transport vehicles available to use in Conquest, this map was made for close-quarters infantry combat – where all four Classes will be able to make their mark in battle.”

Battlefield 5 Marita Map Details Revealed

Set in the Greek mountains, Marita’s verticality and narrow, curving streets are its most defining features. The ‘Small-Medium’ size map only includes vehicles in Conquest mode; in all other modes, vehicles do not feature. Gameplay in Marita is likely to be frenetic, as the Capture Points are closer together than normal. Plus, the close-quarters urban environment will pull players into very close proximity of one another. Currently, Breakthrough, Conquest, and Team Deathmatch are available for Marita. Squad Conquest will also come to the map soon.

Developers from DICE recommend that players be mindful of attacks from above and below; the verticality of Marita really is key. If you can push up and claim the high ground, that’s perhaps the best position to be in. Of course, the dense urban terrain gives attackers approaching from below plenty of cover. Defenders on the heights will still need to be watchful.
