For some time now, director Cory Barlog has been saying that there was one God of War Easter egg which remained undiscovered. Recently, at San Diego Comic-Con, Santa Monica Studios unveiled a storyboard called “The Hunt”; a storyboard which was hinted by one of the game’s artists to contain a clue to the final Easter egg’s location. Fans seemed to have found that Easter egg earlier this week. However, some are so disappointed with it that they are continuing to search.
The Final Undiscovered God of War Easter Egg?
After it was teased that the storyboard would point searchers in the right direction, fans quickly determined that Kratos and Atreus’ house was the location of the final God of War Easter egg. After a long search, they were able to spot and translate four runes inscribed on different pillars. Arranged in the correct order, the runes spelled out “Loki”; a teaser for a revelation which wouldn’t otherwise be revealed until the very end of the game. However, given that previous Easter eggs have been far more substantial than this, many fans have not stopped searching.
There was another clue to the identity of Loki found in the house; a half-finished symbol woven by Faye before her death. The tapestry symbol depicted twin snakes biting each others’ tails; a symbol associated with the god Loki. This is not new information to anybody who has finished the game, however. Moreover, it’s not nearly as substantial as the Infinity Gauntlet Easter egg, or the first one which was discovered via translating runes.
Cory Barlog himself has yet to confirm either way if the discovery is indeed the final Easter egg. Ultimately, fans will not know for sure until he does. For now, many are trying new strategies in an effort to unearth something else. Others, meanwhile, are expanding the search beyond the house. It remains to be seen if they will find anything, or indeed, if there is even anything left to be found.
