Santa Monica Studios Confirms Discovery of Final God of War Easter Egg
Last week, Santa Monica Studios released “The Hunt”; one of the earliest storyboards created during God of War’s development. Following the release at San Diego Comic-Con, a senior artist at the studio teased that the storyboard was a major clue to the location of the final undiscovered God of War Easter egg. A few days ago, fans seemed to have discovered that missing secret, and now, the studio has formally acknowledged it.
The Final God of War Easter Egg
On several occasions, director Cory Barlog mentioned that there was one God of War Easter egg which had yet to be found. When “The Hunt” was released, and fans realized it was a clue, they descended on Kratos and Atreus’ house. There, they sifted through every dark corner hunting for the final Easter egg, and appeared to find it within a few days. Several keen-eyed gamers spotted four runes carved onto beams inside the house. When translated, and arranged in the correct order, they spelled the name; “Loki”.
This, along with an unfinished tapestry which appeared to depict a symbol associated with Loki, appeared to be the Easter egg; an indication in the game’s starting area of one of the game’s final revelations. However, some fans were disappointed with the discovery. Previous God of War Easter eggs had been major in-game items, for example. As such, they had continued to search for something else inside the house.
Santa Monica Studios, however, has now confirmed that the discovery was indeed the final God of War Easter egg.

The studio used the hashtag “#FayeKnew”; referring to the fact that Faye knew about Atreus’ future. This is a revelation which otherwise comes in the game’s final few minutes. While it’s not necessarily new information to anybody who has completed the game, it is a nice nod to Atreus’ upbringing and destiny.
