Group 2: Players on PS4, Xbox One X, and Xbox One S may all crossplay together.
But what you cannot do is play between groups. That means that if you are on PS5, for example, you cannot crossplay with someone on Xbox One X.
The reason that this is the case has to do with differences in what the hardware between the two groups can handle. Those who are on newer platforms can play in matches with up to 128 players. But older platforms can only support up to 64 players at a time. So, naturally it makes sense that these two groups cannot play together. If a system that can only support 64 players tried to enter a match with 128 players, we would expect it to crash.
