Doom Video Game Turned Into A Playable Magic Eye Poster

I am among people who cannot figure out how this works exactly, but let’s see if you can. Someone created a Magic Eye poster out of the original Doom video game and it is also playable.

All I can see is a green screen that is nothing near HD quality, but it seems like many people can actually see what is going on there. This Magic Eye poster was created by a developer named blogum using a combination of freely available tools and code. If you are a true 90’s kid, you will probably remember these things. Normal people could not see the picture behind them, but we all had that one friend who was immediately stating that they could clearly see it. However, even when it comes to video games, I still cannot seem to become that guy.

Furthermore, judging by the OMDO instead of DOOM at the beginning of the game, you can quickly assume that something is definitely wrong with this thing. Doom is supposed to be generated as a random-dot autostereogram like the ones back then, but when you see the green screen looking like a photo of grass, you will realize that this cannot be Doom’s gameplay. Or can it?

OMDO features the first three maps of iD software’s Doom original 1993 video game.  You should be able to see it if you use the right technique, which is to simply stare in the center of it until you see the image unraveling in the place of the dots. After staring into it for 2 whole minutes I am officially blind and able to only see green grass everywhere but maybe you are more lucky than I am and you get to also see the gameplay as well.

On the other hand, the green grass switches to brown dirt whenever the player is injured, indicating that someone just hit them and there is blood coming out of them. It was not enough that Doom was scary while you had the ability to see what is going on around you; now it is even more creepy since it is very confusing not being able to see what hit you whilst you have no idea how to escape from it.

Take a look at how this DOOM autostereogram looks like below. Have fun.
