Dragon Ball Project Z Announced, Will Be a Dragon Ball Action RPG

Dragon Ball Project Z is the next game in the video game series of the popular anime and manga. This is a clear working title so don’t expect this to be the final name. The game got its first tease today with a little bit of information on it. We know that the game will be a Dragon Ball action RPG title.

Dragon Ball Project Z is the working title for the next Dragon Ball game that was teased on Twitter today by Bandai Namco. Bandai Namco is known for making the majority of the recent Dragon Ball games so this is no surprise. What is interesting is that we know it will be an action RPG for sure. It’s also interesting that we don’t have an official name.

Dragon Ball Project Z

The lack of an official name certainly makes it seem like Dragon Ball Project Z could be a brand new, never before seen title. The biggest possibility for it, in terms of an existing series, is being Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3. However, the lack of an official title certainly makes it seem like that isn’t the case.

If Dragon Ball Project Z is Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3, it does seem odd not to tease it as such. That leads us to believe that this is a brand new title entirely. Whether it goes into the full-on RPG route like the GBA games or more akin to the Xenoverse series is currently up in the air. We won’t know for sure for a good while.

It is odd that the game (working title seen in the screenshot above) wasn’t announced during the recent Dragon Ball Super Showcase. That is the same place where the Dragon Ball Heroes: World Mission game was announced for the West. But Bandai Namco noted that it wasn’t able to announce this new project then. This could indicate that it is very early in development.
