Dream Daddy Coming to PS4 with Bonus Content

Meet the dad of your dreams from the comfort of the couch when Dream Daddy hits PS4 on October 30. The console version of the Game Grumps’ dating sim, dubbed the “Dadrector’s Cut,” will include previously unseen content. Expect new side quests, replayable mini games and one all new mini game. Notably, Steam users who already own the visual novel will receive the update for free.

Dream Daddy: The Dadrector’s Cut

The new minigame in all its glory.

In Dream Daddy, players create and customize their own dad. The player character has just moved to the sleepy town of Maple Bay with his teenage daughter, Amanda. With the help of Amanda and an app called Dadbook, the player goes on dates with other dads in town.

Make Good Choices

There are seven dads, each with charming and diverse personalities. One dad is a bad boy, with a penchant for hanging out at dive bar. One dad is a goth, with a Victorian-style home and gargoyles. Another is a teacher at your daughter’s school.

The game was a Steam hit upon release in July 2017, temporarily unseating Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds to top the sales chart. Leighton Gray, who co-wrote the game and worked as art director, went on to join the Fullbright Company, creators of Gone Home and Tacoma. Since release, the Dream Daddy universe has been expanded through a series of comic books from Oni Press.

Is the Price Right?

Dream Daddy currently retails for $14.99 on Steam. The PS4 announcement trailer did not contain any information about how much the console edition will cost. It’s also unclear how much the new and improved version will cost for PC players diving into Maple Bay for the first time.

One thing is clear: this is a terrific dating sim, and the move to PS4 will hopefully help it reach an even bigger audience. Now, how about a Switch port?
