You knew one of those meteors in Fortnite was eventually going to hit something, right? You probably thought it was going to be the Tilted Towers though—at least if you believed most of the rumors. Well, the comet has struck, but it didn’t hit the Tilted Towers after all. Instead, it crashed into Dusty Depot and replaced it with Dusty Divot.
This change heralds the arrival of Fortnite Season 4. Along with creating a literal impact on the game’s landscape, the new season has brought a slew of other changes and additions ranging from new loot caches to comet fragments which give you anti-gravity jump powers.
When you first log in, you will watch a brief introductory sequence which shows the comet crashing. A bright glow blooms from the crash site, possibly radiation (traditionally a source of superhero powers, and perhaps tied into the new skins). Once you disembark from the Battle Bus, you will notice that Dusty Depot is gone.
Journeying to the site of the former Depot, you will be able to investigate the crater. If you check along the rim, you will find what is left of one of the original warehouses. Heading to the center of the Divot, you will discover some kind of scientific base.
While Dusty Divot is getting most of the attention right now, there is at least one other part of the map which has changed. If you venture to the northeast, you will discover a new area called Risky Reels. There was a user on Reddit who leaked both the destruction of Dusty Depot and the theme of the season. That user mentioned there would be continuing map changes throughout Season 4, and it certainly seems like things are headed in that direction. Being as his other predictions were true, it seems likely that this one is as well.
So there is no better time than the present to get in on the action. Start playing Fortnite Season 4 so you can see the changes to the game world—and then get ready for even more (possible) changes over the course of the season. You can play Fortnite Battle Royale on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC or mobile.
