After announcing the release date last week, Treyarch has now launched Operation Dark Divide, the next major post-launch season for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. Themed around superheroes and villains, the season makes some changes to the game’s Blackout maps, as well as bringing a range of new cosmetics. Plus, it also includes Tag der Toten, the final episode of the Aether Zombies storyline.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 – Operation Dark Divide
Operation Dark Divide is Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s sixth season of post-launch content. Firstly, the season is bringing two new multiplayer maps; Lair and Launch, both of which can be seen in the Operation trailer. There are also three new playable characters coming to Blackout; Marlton, Stuhlinger, and Grigori Weaver, as well as a new game mode called Heavy Metal Heroes. In the Zombies part of the game, Dark Divide adds Tag der Toten, the final Zombies chapter for the game. There are also two new Elixirs, a new Perk, and two new Wonder Weapons (the Tundra Gun and the Wunderwaffe DG Scharfschütze).
In the Black Market, Dark Divide brings 50 new Contraband Tiers, as well as new Specialist Outfits themed around ‘heroes vs. villains’. There are also new Mastercrafts, Epic & Legendary Outfits, Death Effects, Weapon Charms, and more. New Black Market weapons are also coming to Zombies via the Mystery Box. These include the AN-94 and VMP, with unique upgrades available at the Pack-A-Punch.
The launch of Operation Dark Divide seems to have garnered a mixed reaction from fans so far, at least on YouTube, with almost 5,000 dislikes to 6,000 likes. However, the public forum of YouTube isn’t necessarily representative of the game’s active audience. In addition, the number of dislikes represents less than 4% of the trailer’s total views, suggesting that most viewers have no strong reactions either way.
