Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Season 5 is now live, giving players access to a wealth of new content, including four new multiplayer maps. Like previous seasons, Infinity Ward has delivered a selection of new maps with the season launch, with more to come in the next few weeks. The initial four, which are playable from today, are Livestock, Petrov Oil Rig, Suldal Harbour, and Verdansk International Airport.
The Four New Modern Warfare Season 5 Maps
The first of the four new Modern Warfare Season 5 maps, Livestock, is also its smallest. A new Gunfight map, Livestock is a rural area set around a farmyard barn. Offering cover in the form of farming equipment and hay bales, the two-storey map boasts plenty of flanking opportunities. According to Activision, Livestock should feature; “some of the fastest and deliriously frenetic Gunfight battles yet seen in Modern Warfare.”
Livestock’s polar opposite among the new additions is Verdansk International Airport, a huge new map which is only available for Ground War. As the name implies, Verdansk International Airport is a section of the Verdansk map from Warzone. It features the airport’s interior, the airfield, and several adjacent buildings and hangars. Like most Ground War maps, it offers players plenty of opportunities for different styles of play.
The other two new maps available today are standard 6v6 multiplayer maps. The first is Petrov Oil Rig, which, as the name implies, is set on an industrial oil rig far out at sea. Divided into five areas, the rig offers plenty of mid-range sightlines and close-quarters areas; many of the otherwise open platforms are full of shipping crates, for instance. As it happens, the other new map, Suldal Harbour, is also close to the sea. This map takes place among the warehouses of a Middle Eastern dockyard. Indeed, like the Oil Rig, Suldal Harbour features several close-range interior sections. However, it does also include a few areas which provide long-range sightlines for sniping.
