There are two main themes to what we keep hearing about PS5 and Xbox Series X. The first is that the two consoles are going to be ridiculously powerful with their solid state drives. The second is that they are “more of the same.” In other words, they are not revolutions, but evolutions. But does that mean they are going to under-whelm us? Not according to EA’s CFO Blake Jorgensen.
EA Says PS5 and Xbox Series X Are Going to Blow Minds
Jorgensen was speaking during an earnings call when he said, “The power of the new consoles is going to be substantially greater than existing consoles. We can do a lot more [with Xbox Series X and PS5]. Things we’re doing will blow people’s minds.”
So, in all fairness, what Jorgensen actually said is that EA is going to blow our minds—but that they will only be able to do so at the promised level because of the technology featured in the next generation consoles. Was there more? Alas, no. That was about all he had to say about the PS5 and Xbox Series X. It would have been nice to learn more. But at least we can imagine some of the possibilities of where next gen gaming could take us with our favorite EA franchises.
As you likely know, both the PS5 and Xbox Series X are due to release during the holiday season this year. Even though that still feels like ages away, we are getting closer to it every day. So, it is time to start saving up toward your next console. We should be hearing a lot more about both next gen consoles in the months ahead as Sony and Microsoft ramp up the hype. So, check our PlayStation news often.
