The new EA Sports international football simulation title FIFA 21 will feature plenty of all-time greats on the pitch in Ultimate Team mode. VGR previously reported that there would be 100 FIFA 21 icons available over the course of the FUT season. As of Monday, EA officially unveiled the complete list of which Icons gamers can expect to have a chance to add to their rosters.
100 FIFA 21 Icons revealed for new Ultimate Team
With Ultimate Team mode, gamers assemble a squad featuring star players from the past, present, and future. The past players are often found as part of the FUT Icons, which are all-time great soccer stars. These Icons are usually released over the months that the FIFA game is in rotation. Icons are acquired through a FIFA Squad Building Challenge or Objectives in Ultimate Team.
The new FIFA game will feature the most Icons ever. In terms of FIFA 21 Icons, a list of the 100 star players who will be available for the pitch was revealed. They include many all-time greats seen before such as Pele, Ferdinand, Pirlo, Del Piero, Petit, Socrates, and Ronaldinho.
FIFA 21 is also set to feature a group of brand new Icons. EA unveiled an image showing off the entire group for the first time, ahead of the game’s release date. Check it out below with the newest Icons in the Class of 21 at the top:
New Icons joining the FUT 21 mode
We previously mentioned the Eric Cantona reveal, and he’ll be one of the new FIFA 21 Icons. EA’s FIFA social media has revealed some of the new faces coming to FUT mode this year and now we’re seeing the complete list.
In addition to Cantona, gamers can expect to see the following amongst this year’s Icons: Ashley Cole, Samuel Eto’o, Phillip Lahm, Ferenc Puskas, Xavi, Davor Suker, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Fernando Torres, Nemanja Vidic, and Peter Cech. Fans are already requesting that Cech wear the trademark helmet when playing in FUT mode.

Per Dexerto’s report, it appears there may actually be 101 total FIFA 21 Icons. The speculation is that one of them will be removed ahead of the new game. Or it’s possible FIFA is going to make it 101.
The new FIFA video game arrives on Oct. 9, 2020, in Standard Edition for PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Steam. The Champions and Ultimate Edition will give those who pre-order three days earlier access.
