Let the debates begin as EA Sports NHL 19 ratings were revealed earlier today. With each new edition of the game, fans are looking for which stars are considered the best of the best. For this year’s title, that honor goes to the league’s young rising star on the Edmonton Oilers.
On Monday afternoon, EA Sports announced ratings for their top 10 players. Taking the top overall spot this year is Conor McDavid of the Edmonton Oilers. The NHL All-Star has a 94 rating and just edged out fellow star Sidney Crosby of the Pittsburgh Penguins. The longtime fan-favorite has a 93 overall rating for the upcoming game.

EA Sports notes that McDavid has skating rated at 96 and passing at 95. EA has many of his ratings in the 90s saying he “outpaces all competition.” That includes Crosby who has achieved numerous accolades including three championships in his career.
Interestingly, McDavid was tied with Crosby in last year’s edition of the title for the top rating at 93, per Gamespot. Now the Oilers star has distanced himself slightly from his competitor. While Crosby has won multiple Stanley Cup titles, the top-rated NHL star seems to be on the way there.
McDavid is certainly deserving of the top rating for NHL 19 as he continues to emerge early in his career. The 21-year-old led the league in total points last season with 108. The Oilers’ star center was sixth in the league in goals with 41 last season and third in assists with 67. He’s hoping to help lead his team back to the postseason as the Oilers missed out in 2017-18.
Rounding out the top five for the game is the Capitals’ Alex Ovechkin (92), the Kings’ Drew Doughty (92), and the Canadiens’ Carey Price (92). Five players each earned 91 ratings for the top 10: the Lightning’s Nikita Kucherov and Victor Hedman, Blackhawks’ star Patrick Kane, Penguins Evgeni Malkin, and Lightning’s Steven Stamkos.
