In two weeks, mixed martial arts fans will be watching as the UFC 231 Holloway vs. Ortega pay-per-view goes live. The main event will feature Max Holloway doing battle with Brian “T-City” Ortega inside the Octagon. The two fighters have been on a collision course as they’ve both looked great over their most recent fights. A recent EA Sports UFC 3 poll has launched for the upcoming bout, based on what the gamers vote for as a predicted outcome.
UFC 231 Holloway vs. Ortega fight buildup
Both Max Holloway and Brian Ortega are on winning streaks ahead of their Dec. 8 fight in Toronto, Canada. That should give fans an impressive battle between fierce competitors, playable in the game UFC 3 ahead of the UFC 231 PPV. The stakes are high too, as the UFC Featherweight Championship will be on the line. The two fighters were previously going to battle, but Holloway pulled out due to “concussion-like symptoms” months ago.
The reigning champion is Max Holloway. His last loss was to none other than Conor McGregor back in August of 2013. EA previously hyped McGregor’s fight against Khabib, and everyone saw how that turned out for the “Notorious” one. However, Holloway has won 12-straight fights now including back-to-back wins over Jose Aldo in 2017.

As for T-City, one could say he has yet to lose a fight. He’s won just about every fight since his debut in June 2010. It’s “just about every” only because he had a no contest in July 2014 against Mike De La Torre. Ortega originally won that fight by a rear-naked choke submission but it was overturned when he tested positive for drostanolone.
UFC 231 Holloway vs. Ortega poll brings fans’ prediction
The two MMA stars are featured on the men’s featherweight fighter roster in EA Sports’ UFC 3 game. Holloway, the reigning UFC Featherweight champion, carries 93 Striking, 88 Grappling, 91 Stamina, and 93 Health ratings on the game. Ortega’s ratings include an 87 Striking, 91 Grappling, 89 Stamina, and 90 health, according to EA’s website.
Just like EA’s UFC 3 Twitter did with other big main events, they’ve polled the followers on their account for the upcoming matchup. Fans are able to vote not only on who will win, but how they will win.
Interestingly, the poll has shown the top reply was T-City will win by either a knockout or submission as 40 percent of followers voted for the choice. However, 35 percent of voters chose Holloway to win in that manner, while another 20 percent believe Holloway wins by decision. That seems to go in favor of the champion ahead of their main event battle.
- 40% T-City KO/Submission
- 5% T-City Decision
- 35% Holloway KO/Submission
- 20% Holloway Decision
As fans wait to watch the UFC 231 Holloway vs. Ortega fight, they can also simulate it themselves using the EA Sports UFC 3 video game. The video below is an example from months ago of what may happen. Some fans may even want to simulate a rematch if the results don’t quite play out how they expect on Dec. 8th.
