For gamers hoping for some new fighters on EA Sports’ UFC 3 roster, there’s great news. As of Friday, EA announced the addition of two legends in mixed martial arts that are now back in the game. In addition, a few Fight Night Champion characters are now playable fighters in UFC 3. Here are the new details on the UFC 3 roster updates and some ideas gamers have for future additions.
EA Sports UFC 3 roster adds Severn, Sonnen
Ahead of UFC 231: Holloway vs. Ortega, there are some new fighters available for the popular MMA title. Fans of mixed martial arts and longtime professional wrestling fans are likely to be familiar with both of these beasts in the Octagon. Heavyweight star Dan Severn and Middleweight/Light Heavyweight Chael Sonnen are once again part of the UFC 3 roster. As seen below they have some high skill ratings as they should.

Dan “The Beast” Severn was part of the early years of Ultimate Fighting Championship, giving him quite the resume and background. He built an impressive record over the years of 101-19-7 in the sport of MMA. He also set the stage for future competitors to compete within both the UFC and WWF/WWE. He’s a former NWA World Heavyweight champion and now runs his own MMA camp out in Michigan.
As far as Sonnen goes, plenty of MMA fans either love or hate him. He was active in MMA from 1997 through 2014 until his suspension for failed drug tests and retirement from UFC. He made a return to the sport two years later, this time as a member of Bellator MMA. Over the years, he’s also been a commentator, and he’s known as a generally outspoken individual within the sports world. His MMA record is 31-16-1.
Severn and Sonnen make for great additions to play out dream fights in the UFC 3 game. Now MMA fans can put them up against the likes of Daniel Cormier, Michael Bisping, or Robert Whittaker. One fan posted a YouTube video showing off a Sonnen vs. Whittaker title fight.
EA Sports UFC 3 roster also adds two Fight Night champs
EA announced Fight Night Champions Andre Bishop and Isaac Frost as additions to the UFC 3 roster just a couple of hours ahead of Severn and Sonnen. Some fans were a bit disappointed that these particular fighters were announced as they are in fact, not real.
Both of these fighters are fictitious characters in the world of fight sports video games. They appear in Fight Night Champion, a 2011 title. Frost is said to have a physique that mimics that of the classic “Rocky IV” character Ivan Drago. He won the championship just a few years after starting his pro career. Bishop was the younger brother of the game’s main star, Andre Bishop. He was also a professional boxer and went on to a huge fight against Frost.

With the arrival of the fictitious Fight Night characters, it’s bringing up some interesting comments from gamers. Some are calling for the release of a brand new Fight Night game. Others are asking for certain individuals to become available for the roster. Some of the names that popped up were Joe Rogan and Mike Tyson.
Anything’s possible in the world of sports games. After all, UFC 3 already includes the late legend Bruce Lee as a playable fighter in the game. Could Tyson and Rogan be appearing the Octagon in the future?
